American Vampire

Chronicling the history of a new breed of vampire, American Vampire is a fresh look at an old monster, a generational epic showcasing the bloodlust that lay hidden beneath America’s most distinctive eras.

Like most good stories, it all starts with a question: What if vampires, like all species, evolved? What if, occasionally across generations, a vampire bites someone and creates a new kind of creature—a vampire that takes its strengths and weaknesses—not just from its predecessors, but its environment. So when crusty old Europeans come to the American Old West and turn a thoroughly corrupt gunslinger named Skinner Sweet into even more of a monster, he becomes something entirely new: a new breed of vampire immune to sunlight, one that hates every last one of his aristocratic European ancestors.

Follow this dark symbol of the New World as he moves through American history’s most distinctive eras—1880s Old West, 1930s Las Vegas, World War II and more. But as Skinner’s war with his predecessors inspires a mysterious society to rise and fight them both, his most upsetting decision might be the first person he chooses to join his vampiric ranks:

A struggling young movie star named Pearl Jones.

American Vampire: Second Cycle

“I’ve missed these characters dearly, and I’m bringing them back with a vengeance.” – Scott Snyder

The Eisner Award-winning, critically acclaimed series is back! #1 New York Times best-selling writer Scott Snyder (BATMAN, SUPERMAN UNCHAINED, THE WAKE) and acclaimed artist Rafael Albuquerque (ANIMAL MAN) bring their bloodsoaked opus into the 1960s!

The story so far...

Pearl Jones is a new kind of vampire, one of an American breed that can walk in the sun and has rattlesnake fangs. She’s beautiful and powerful – and she’s hiding from a tragic past…

Skinner Sweet is an American vamp too – the kind you love to hate. He’s good when he wants to be, but most of the time he’s downright bad. He’s Pearl’s maker, but he’s off in Mexico with an agenda of his own…

Will their two stories collide, or are they separated forever? And who is this new villain on the horizon, someone bloodier and more evil than anything seen in AMERICAN VAMPIRE before? Who is THE GRAY TRADER and what does his arrival mean for Skinner and Pearl?

Whether you’re already a fan or interested in checking out this series, the extra-sized AMERICAN VAMPIRE: SECOND CYCLE #1 is the perfect jumping-on point!

Skinny is one of the greatest comic villains of the modern era in my books!

Very cool! This series is underrated, as is Rafael's art.
