PGM Daredevil #15

Some of the most valuable comics in the world have writing or date stamps on the front cover. It's a sign of the book's provenance. The David Crippin pedigree includes books which have his initial "D" on the front cover and its a good example of this. Many books from the SA/GA era also have date stamps on the front cover. These may prevent a book from hitting 9.8, but it doesn't appear to affect the technical grade in NM or below. At that point it is simply a matter of personal preference.

Doesn't reduce grade IMO. Wouldn't be noted on blue label.

Really? :o

I was quite sure a writing or a similar sign even if in the interior page would reduce a lot the grade and the value of the comic book!

Really depends on the writing and the overall condition of the book. If everything else was perfect (9.8) - the notation on the inside may drop you to a 9.6 and get a note. If it was a date note on the exterior (hand written date stamp) - may not drop at all.

If someone was scribbling instead of a mark like that (probably initials of the person who owned the book) - that is harsher - especially if they were coloring in areas of the cover (that might get color touch note).

Some initials/sigs add value as they can indicate that the book is part of a "pedigree" collection - which would usually not drop a grade at all.

Initials/name/date (and not overly large) = not that much of a hit.

scribble/coloring book stuff = ouch

I’d say between FN- and FN (5.5 to 6.0).

Marco, be careful when laying books on the scanner that way: this puts stress on the staple area and causes creases. Not a big deal on midgrade books which are not expensive, but one should pay attention with high grade and/or expensive books.
