Acetate lettering title overlay on cover recreation

6 posts in this topic

New area for getting art recreations for me, but wondering what is the best way of getting / doing acetate lettering overlay on top of comic cover recreations. Working on getting a cover recreation pencil copy inked but most artists are hesitant on the lettering. Overlay was suggested but what is the best way to execute?

I bought a Dan DeCarlo cover that never had the paste ups and hired Chris Ivy to create them on an acetate overlay. It looks great and didn't cost much either. I can highly recommend Chris.

Click to embiggen and you can see it with and without the overlay.

I would be hesitant to do anything permanent over an original piece of art. With it being a recreation, I see no reason why the artist couldn't permanently attach the lettering to the artwork.

That is what I do and it creates an excellent final art recreation piece.
