Marvel Comics Retailer Conference Comics??

Does anyone know what the story is with these Marvel Retailer Books? Were these actually bound by Marvel as something to sell, or to give away to retailers? Did they do it every year back in the day (these are 1992 according to the listing)? Are they still doing this? (doubt it with the direct market).

 

Anyway...just curious. I had not seen a bound lot like this before.

I dug out my copies. They are from the 1992 Retailer Summit. As memory serves, I think there were about 800 retailers there, and they were distributed one per account. They don't come up for sale very often. There is another one on EBay for $142.

 

It was strange going through them and seeing the krap Marvel was putting out.
