So I bought Ultra Pro Comic Boards

12 posts in this topic

Is your complaint about the boards that they are too narrow for the books or that they are too narrow for the bags? I use 7 1/4inch bags with a 7 inch board, but a 7inch bag would be fine with the 6.75 board for modern comics.

Without knowing the size of actual comic books i bought these boards which are sized as 6.75x10.5. In length they are just fine but they are wayy too narrow.

What size should I have bought? theres also 7x10.5 but they are called silver age sized. Mine were called Current Size which i thought would work.

For moderns, I'd recommend 725 M2's for bags and fully-buffered 700 FB's for boards.

The problem with the Ultra-Pro boards is that they are coated solid bleached sulfate, where only the thin coating is alkaline. 98% of the mass of the board will become acidic fairly quickly and contribute to the aging of your books. You should stick to a buffered throughout board such as Gerber or Bill Cole for books you wish to preserve.

Are "acid free" boards really acid free?
