Back in November of last year, this gent was posting this edition in several of the foreign comic groups, and helped/encouraged by some of the members, was making it out to be a first cover appearance. This was my reply then, and it still stands.

The cover of SW #42 is a also just a panel from MSE 16, is it not?

There's a number of ways to go about answering this question, the simplest is that a cover was drawn by Al Williamson for SW #42 745871351_alwilliamson.jpg.2302c7090e961050aa0d9ffb2e40c2f4.jpg

In this context, the splash page from Al Williamson intended for MS 16, that was later used to reproduce cover dress (likely by way of cut out stats, not original art) for the SW/ESB Weekly 129, would take precedent based on which art existed for which purpose first. This isn't even that difficult to understand or parse, Williamson drew the line art for MS 16 first, then SW/ESB Weekly 129 reprinted it for a cover. Beyond this understanding of the chronology of original published art taking precedence in any discussion about where the art was first used, for anyone that collects UK SW Weekly, this is an automatic, as they are reprints, with mostly recycled art.

Fett is on both covers right underneath Leia's head. Both came out in 1980. hm

Just because this is the first time Boba Fett is on a cover doesn't make it a first cover appearance. We have extremely loose guidelines that we will defend to the death over these types of definitions. 😂
