The "New Forum" Discussion Thread

509 posts in this topic

In the "New Forum" discussion thread the clickable list of action items should be "Swickied" ®

definition - A variation on the term "stickied" which applies to thread access, the "Swickie" is slang for placing the main gist of a thread on page one, post one - whether it be a recap of content, suggestions, rules etc.. the OP has control of the first post and updates it periodically to keep contributors aware of suggestions in a readily accessed point.

:rulez:

lol

I've talked to Swick about this tactic, and unfortunately the edit time limit of one year causes problems. For example, the Noob Guide cannot be updated anymore. So, the floating table of contents would appear to be the better option (and also allows others to make updates if I get hit by a bus).

I know that first post can't get edited after a year but surely this thread will run its course in a few weeks & shortly after that Arch will have the new improved forum up and running.

Here's one that bothers me because it sometimes makes the thread titles unreadable.

HTML code for special characters shows up in the forum lists.

In this case, the first quotation mark is fine, the second appears as HTML code (&quot).

If there's a simple fix for this, please let me know...otherwise I'll put it down as Bug Fix #4

Relatively new here so forgive me if this has been discussed or decided against already, but I think the "club" threads should be moved out of the G/S/B sections and into their own space.

Annoying to sift through these to get to the Age-related discussions.

I think you'll find it tough to get traction for your sentiments

How about telling us what really happened when we see "THIS TOPIC HAS BEEN MOVED" and say THIS TOPIC HAS BEEN DELETED.

The topic/thread gets moved to a moderation area that only Mods can see.

No doubt

It took about 2 years to get birthday threads for everyone bounced out of CG

And there was majority support for that idea

Because it hasn't been. It's been moved to the moderation area, for legal purposes. Very few threads are ever actually deleted.
