Too bad you're not as anal about punctuation, or you'd have written "... but there's a limit, people." makepoint.gif

Off topic.

I just noticed that Weaponx12.... has been banned. Like we didn't see that coming. foreheadslap.gif

He was banned shortly after his "smelly" flame war began in the "It's Stunts Like This..." thread.

Batmobile Link was dead when I clicked.. ?

Ze-

And to Destro.. I was making the below post in your your SCS thread, at the exact same time the mods pulled it.

So I pasted it below....

I think alotta people dont like me because I am critical about comics as an investment and ask q's which are not BULLISH in sentiment. I mean truly,..little ole me,..a threat to the comic book market,..I think not.

No.. actually I dont think that is it at all.

There are alot of other reasons why people react like they do to your posts.

Comic talk is one thing, there will always be room to discuss EVERY topic concerning our hobby, by anyone who cares to make a post.

But there seems to be an underlying sentiment in all of your posts that turns most folks off.

So why you act so surprised when people jump on you I have no idea. It seems to me that is your main point for logging onto this forum.

We ALL cant be crazy here Destro.....you might just want to rethink how the tone of your previous posts was being received.

No. 5? How many Batmobiles were there??

I've seen different reports of how many copies there were. One report says 7 Batmobiles were used for the 1960s show. Another says 5 and identifies each as follows:

#1 is supposedly still owned by its creator George Barris and stored at his 'Barris Kustoms' shop, located at 10811 Riverside Dr., North Hollywood, California. Apparently is is reported to be in poor condition.

#2 is the one owned by the Dentist. It was the stand-in for #1 in the show.

In 1998 he was quoted as saying:

"From the first day I bought it, it has been displayed in a private garage for mine and my family's personal enjoyment. I think because I never allowed others to use it or display it, everyone thought it was in storage. Mechanically, the car does not run great, but this is something I plan to correct eventually."

#3 Was auctioned for $98,700 on September 1, 1997 to the Imperial Palace, which indicated its plans to display it in their Biloxi, Mississippi casino. This version was originally used for promotional tours during the show.

#4 Was auctioned in 1998 for $95,000 to Ralph Spencer, of Jacksonville, Florida. He is the Vice President of Mulch Manufacturing Inc. This version apparently performed at drag races in the 1960s and 1970s.

#5 This and the batcycle were said to have been sold for $185,000 in 1988. This version was the stunt car.

I don't know which of the 5 above, but in April 2003, one of them sold for $182,850 to Devoe Moore of the Tallahassee Antique Car Museum, which also has a batcyle (I have no idea how many of those exist).

There are quite a few websites that exist that provide history.

I know the Dentist as we live near each other but haven't had the good fortune of yet seeing the Batmobile. Coincidently, Lynda "Wonder Woman" Carter lives right by me as well, and attends the same gym. My wife saw her there recently.

Funny story. Burt Ward, the original Robin, is a friend of mine. We met almost ten years ago through a business deal. Anyway, the local top 40 radio station morning show here in DC had a contest about 5 years ago where they offered a car to whomever would get a celebrity to call into the show and then they would rank who they felt had the best story/interview. The show probably went 5-7 days with no one calling in. Finally, one morning, Burt calls on behalf of my wife (then girlfriend) and is the first celebrity to do so. They had a ball with him. Not 2 hours later, Lynda Carter calls in! Needless to say the radio show got a kick of having two comic book heros both call in the same day!!! Alas, we did not win. A childhood friend of Fred Savage was the the lucky one.

Burt now lives in CA and runs a Great Dane rescue operation with his wife. I've been to his house. He usually has around 40 of these HUGE dogs at any one time. Real nice guy. I highly recommend his autobiography. It is hysterical!
