BTW, the Spider-Man books are actually pretty good (as much as the Amazings): Howard Mackie was writing both titles in parallel, and I have seen he received occasionally negative criticism for his work on Spidey from that period. Some said his writing was well crafted but unoriginal, and offering predictable outcomes. But quality does not reside in sensationalism or change at all costs.

 

On the contrary, I believe he managed to reach a truly authentic approach to Peter Parker and his personality and values. I kept the Morbius issues from this run, which has its up and downs but really manages to write good stories, even with that mess of Ben Reilly and Peter produced by the previous clone storylines.
