Is there a good way to know what Cons are coming in your area?

The way Cons keep selling out tables in my area I'm always hunting for ways to find out about Cons as early as possible. I did a Google search for Comic Cons in my area and got some good info but I'm wondering how you find out about upcoming Cons?

Aside from talking to LCS owners, who may or may not have their finger on the pulse of the local con scene, Google is generally the way I get information too. Any show of any size will have a page, or at the very least a FaceBook presence.

I try to hit up my comic shop every now and then but they seem to only have the Con info of the Cons coming in a few months which always seem to be sold out. Even the Jeff Harper shows are booking up a year in advance!

I'm not an expert at this, but here's my suggestions (you may already know about these, but they could be helpful to someone else), not in any particular order:

1. Cut a hole in a box.

2. If you know who is running the shows, try to get on their mailing lists, or just check in with them every month or every other month with a quick email/text.

3. Go to the actual shows, and try to get info about the next show (typically its cheaper to book the next show while at the current show).

4. Ask your LCS or another local dealer you know who seems to keep up with this (although he may not want the competition).

5. Google.

There's:

- http://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/Sponsors-And-Partners/ (At the bottom is a list of Reed Pop Conventions)

You can also friend via Facebook & Twitter writers, artists and publishers promoting upcoming releases as well as their con schedules.

I've found the link below to be one of the best lists of all the conventions currently scheduled.

I'm not sure that it has EVERY convention listed but they update it and it has help me locate some Cali shows that I didn't even know existed!

I also just noticed that you can search by area, although I like to go through the whole thing to try and find those hidden gems or rare op's...
