Info on values for early National Lampoon issues

I have a chance to pick up one or two early runs of National Lampoon magazines. One of them is stored in the original binders that you could get from the publisher. Does anyone have any idea what they are worth? Is there a price listing anywhere?

There is a Magazine Collectors guide that was published in 1999 or 200 with the most extensive Listing, Photos and prices for all Magazines.

 

This will be a good basis, but will fall short with how they are doing currently in the market.

 

I would say look up past ebay auctions for the first 10-20 books to get an idea, and of condition.

 

Next step visit Doug Sulipa and comic world. Find his MISC. Magazines list, and see what he has, what grades, and what he is selling. Doug is usually on the spot with Magazine values according to demand!

If you want to flip 'em, Dougs a good guy to sell these to as well. Pretty sure he'll gjve you more than most and he's always looking for Lampoons. Especially the early ones.

Here are my feeble recollections from watching NatLamp on ebay:

 

Issue number 1 goes for about $20 to $40, and earlier issues (say about

the first year) go for about $10 each. Depends on condition of course.

 

Later issues are much more common, and are tough to sell (IMO), but

certain ones do pretty well (e.g., Frazetta covers, the "kill the dog" issue).

 

I think prices are creeping up on NLs -- you used to be able to get them for

$1 each in bargain bins, the last time I saw a bunch for sale at a show, they

were marked $8 each.

 

If you do get them, remember all the little people who helped you on your

way up (hint: I'm looking for the first 12 issues in pristine condition).
