THE 2016 SKETCH COVER SUPER/MEGA THREAD

542 posts in this topic

I am really proud of these books, its been a long process from sketch, to ink and to color. but want to give a few thank you's to some important people that made these books possible.

Doug Peters for the Miller sketches, Klaus Janson Inking, tireless work, and patience with me.

Daniel Hoffman for persistence at the mess of a show that was Space City Houston, getting Rubenstein Inks and original sketches, and further submission at Alamo City

Bree Gregorio at CGC who has always gone above and beyond

Ash Gonzales, a friend, that does some killer art and did the color on the Millers that essentially covered all of Rubenstein's stray marks and wild inking that down graded the book initially from 9.8's to 9.6's,,,,books are now 9.8 because of him

Without further ado....

Initial sketch by Frank Miller

Colors by Ash Gonzales. I had Ash color and background to cover all stray marks and smudges...he nailed it in my opinion.

Thank you.

Joe was as enthusiastic as he can be about inking Frank's work, I did grease the wheeels a bit by asking for some original work on the back.

Ash was concerned about coloring as he did not want to ruin what had been done by Frank and Joe. It was his first attempt at "cover-up" work. I have listed other covers of his on this thread, I had great confidence.

I love the art but I'm a grade guy as well. So I was bummed to see them come back 9.6's and immediately turned them over to be colored
