Experience with over seas purchases?

I am considering making an offer on a comic that is about 4000 miles away. It is slabbed (not CGC), and looks to be an extremely good price (it is not a high scam issue), even with international shipping. How much experience do members have with this type of international purchase?

With that said were the experiences and transactions sooth?

 

....always, but a lot depends on the country of origin and the effectiveness of that countries postal service i.e. UK = very quick tracked shipping to the US.

As a Buyer with PayPal you will be protected up to their $ threshold.

 

If you have vetted the seller, I would be more wary of the Voldemort slab than the overseas shipment.

The only thing that bothers me is the waiting game if it's a comic I have been after for a while. If it is still a bargain after the additional postage charges I would go for it. I have bought from many different countries and sent to many countries.

And no offence to vaillant here... But Italy sucks! From a postage angle anyway.. Always, always, always send tracked and insured to Italy.

To be honest, I have been collecting american comic books for over twenty years, often using First Class (and a lot of years ago, even Surface, when it was available) and I have never had problems.

 

By making blanket statements like that you just give an altered perception: I have had negative experiences in receiving packages from Europe (Germany, UK), but I would never dream to generalize. :shrug:

I've had many parcels go 'lost' on their way to Italy. Pretty certain I'm not alone there too, it's uncanny the amount of listing I come across that will flat refuse to ship to Italia. Not just Italy though, my own country is pretty bad for it too.

So now I only ever send anything, tracked and signed. Unless it's something cheap I don't mind taking a risk on.

Don't panic! I actually find that many of the best deals come from overseas... Markets for American comics in some places are very small, and sellers sometimes offer up real bargains.

 

A slab arrived from Singapore once that was cracked, but the seller gave me a full refund. Other than that, I've never had a hiccup.

Dont do it , only buy from US trusted sellers

Never had any package go missing.

And never had any problems shipping to the UK either. Even the porn they seem to have a predilection for...., :insane:
