General and specific magazine grading question

2 posts in this topic

Hello. I just recently purchased a large lot of Heavy Metal magazines site unseen.

Several of them were covered in plastic film that can not be removed without damaging the covers of the magazines. Since the covers are basically bonded to this plastic, would you consider the condition of the magazine (all other things being equal) as poor?

Additionally, several of the magazines I bought still have the paper mailer on the exteriors. Does having this exterior add any value to the magazines?

I am not looking for answers on this because I am looking to list these. I am going to read them and keep them. I am just curious on others opinions.

Thanks.

Heavy Metal magazines are not very collectible unless you have extremely high grade issues and are patient/lucky enough to find some avid collector working on their run. Paper mailers will add nothing to the value.

Sounds like you have a good reader collection and nothing more.
