WTF are people thinking when they spend this kind of money on something like this???

There are 977 graded copies, with 204 in 9.6, 33 in 9.8, and 2 in 9.9. It is obviously NOT rare in high grade!!

 

For comparison, here's a book which sold for almost the same price:

There are SIX graded copies, with 2 in 7.0 as the highest graded so far! And 2 of the 6 are restored. It obviously is very rare in high grade!

I feel stupid now for letting mine go to a Canadian (who probably just flipped it) for $475. Had I known that shawnlaffey was needing one, I would have sold it to him directly.

As a reference, the Western Penn Spidey 300 CGC 9.8 with ow/w pages sold for $380 a few months ago. So you're right, this sale made no sense to me either.

I am glad someone else thought that was crazy too! I have a 9.4 THAT i think I paid $70 for that looks perfect. So a 9.8 of a modern book goes for 10x the nm CGCd price? When I saw that i thought - you could buy a 9.0 Hulk 181 for about the same money - or a 9.2 Giant X-men 1 even!
