If you go to a Transformers movie, it's to see giant robots fighting.  That's what Transformers is about.

Still need to see both Marky Mark films.

The 3D spfx is top notch. Rest of the movie is almost unwatchable. Mary Mark struts around screaming to be heard above the roar of the V8's and Transformers. Nonsensical: see the UK actress 'run' from the castle in stilettos on grass to her vehicle. Save your $$ for Valerian movie directed by Luc Besson.

FORBES.COM: 'Transformers: The Last Knight': It's No Box Office Bomb, But It's Still A Disaster

Quote

I don’t want to be too hyperbolic about Transformers: The Last Knight. The film is probably going to make between $600 and $700 million worldwide, if not more. That is a lot less than the last three sequels (the last two of which hit $1 billion worldwide), but it's still a lot of money. It was no better received by critics than the last few sequels, and it’s no leggier despite the smaller opening numbers. We’re probably looking at an over/under $140m North American total (versus $245m for Age of Extinction) and an over/under $250m Chinese total (versus $320m for Age of Extinction). Because of the circumstances of the film’s release, it is not just a minor under-performer but something of a long-term disaster.

The issue isn’t just that the film didn’t play in line with previous offerings, but rather it’s playing a lot worse than previous offerings while inspiring zero interest in the upcoming “Transformers cinematic universe.” That’s the catch with hoping that these big franchise installments not only justify themselves but also the next would-be installment and the whole bloody cinematic universe. Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight was not just his swan-song but also something of a backdoor pilot for the next wave of interconnected Transformers movies. This is a large decline in worldwide interest right as the next phase of a studio’s crown jewel property was about to kick off. Audiences seemingly want less Transformers, not more.

I don’t know what will happen with Paramount/Viacom Inc.’s biggest and most important franchise. But I don’t envy anything about where they are now. Even though the $217 million Transformers: The Last Knight may not make much less than the (at least) $236m Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales around the world, one result is “meh” while the other is something of a disaster.
