Two-Gun Kid #60

CGC 1.8 Universal Label

First Appearance & Origin Of Matt Hawk

OFF WHITE/WHITE PAGES....

-The pics were taken at night under less than ideal lighting, the pages/covers look much whiter in hand!

Hand written #60 (Jack Kirby or Stan Lee, dunno which) on cover.

CGC's label notes on this book are WRONG, all copies had the #60 written by hand.

My CGC Forums Feedback Thread:

Is the issue number hand written or not?

Thx

Was running out the door earlier, should have told you that all copies that all copies of this book have the issue number, written by hand.

I had an article/writeup saved off the net at one point, now I can't find the article.

I can tell you that if you compare the 2 other listings on eBay right now, they have handwritten 60's.

In the eBay description, I did state that Overstreet (and consequently CGC labels) are wrong about 2 versions of this book existing.

I have seen about 20 copies of this book over the past 2 years sell online, not a single copy has a typeset "60" in the number box.

Here are the 2 other copies on ebay..............note the number 60 is not typeset on either copy.

For a reference point, here is a TGK #61 with type set numbering:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TWO-GUN-KID-61-1963-Marvel-JACK-KIRBY-COVER-2-STORIES-Tape-G-VG-3-0-JVJ-/201552174748?hash=item2eed721e9c%3Ag%3AoEQAAOSwAvJW%7EGJk&nma=true&si=xc%252BqX7wQDJ%252Ffm6LLAsfrq7eQfeQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Here is a link to a CGC 8.0 copy....note the lack of a type set number box and the wrong info. on the CGC label about the 2 versions existing, handwritten variant. This is flat out wrong.

I should have put in a label request change over in the Ask CGC thread before subbing the book....but heck, I will post that request up now.

More evidence for a label change request.

Here is a TGK # 59 with...a CGC graded copy....with the #59 in typeset.

All signs point to one thing:

Every copy of Two Gun Kid's numbering box was handwritten.

I've never seen a 59 that looks hand written. The only other book with hand written numbers is Kid Colt 97.

Yes, I know about KC 97...and agree with you about KC 97.

The TGK #59 and #61 that I posted links to are both typeset, that was done to illustrate my point.

Here is yet another copy of Two-Gun Kid # 60, a raw book assigned a grade of VG/FN by Heritage.

Linked below are the seven copies I found under eBay search results for "sold" "Two Gun Kid #60".

Note that every single one has handwritten #60's in the number box.Not a single one has a 60 in typeset.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/TWO-GUN-KID-60-VG-/191835793965?hash=item2caa4dea2d%3Ag%3AbYgAAOSwxp9W9sp3&nma=true&si=xc%252BqX7wQDJ%252Ffm6LLAsfrq7eQfeQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

The final nail in the coffin, as if this thread has not been enough to warrant a CGC label change request, is that one of those copies, is a Pence copy.

For the record, I am not adding all of this info in a fevered pitch effort to prove the validity of my assertion that the CGC label and Overstreet notation of "handwritten copies with #60 exist" in a fevered pitch to sell this particular copy for 2 hunny :insane::shy:lol

I figured that since I had already started this thread, I may as well keep the issue of the label notes in one thread.

That said, I created a label request revision thread in the "Ask CGC" forum last night with this thread linked.

I have two other raw copies of this book in my personal collection*, which I will eventually have CGC graded and auctioned off via Comic Link.

The only reason I had this book graded, without first putting in a request for a label note revision, is that I had a coupon for 4 "free" CGC standard submissions from last year's CGC membership dues ,which I had to use while I was at Carbo's Big Apple because they expired the day AFTER Big Apple.

*I love to hunt down and hoard undervalued SA keys :gossip::cloud9:
