Busting open a slab

7 posts in this topic

If I can't post CBCS slab busting I guess the mods will kill this thread quickly.

But I had hell trying to bust open a Spidey 6 in CBCS 4.5. Nice book but I want a raw Spidey run 1 thru 10. CGC slabs open easily. Simply slide a butter knife or thin screwdriver in the side panel and follow it down to the corners. VOILA it snaps open. Not CBCS. They must press the ends with a steel press and gorilla glue them. My large screwdriver could not pry it. Finally jimmy'd one of the edges open with several pieces lying around after I broke them loose. Crushed out the plastic sleeve (as gently as I could) and cut one side with my trusty Wusthof scissors. Book finally came out undamaged. Sweating in my office like a roof shingle layer on June 22. Le puff !

Get a pair of pliars. Crack the clips off from the top or bottom. Once you do that pull across, it should come off. the case should open. Slide the inner well out. it does take a little muscle though. Then grab your scissors. Hope that helps.
