that cover is simply amazing! What a great piece to have! (worship)

How many atlas horror covers are out there?

Thanks, guys.

The artwork has a large image size of approx 20" x 14" - which is awesome "in the flesh".

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a great many surviving Atlas Horror cover originals that I know of.

For some reason, ASTONISHING seems to yield the most amount of surviving covers. The covers to #s 8, 9, 19, 22 and 34 exist.

My first love is EC, but the Atlas titles certainly yielded lots of terrific comic-book work.

There are other Atlas original art covers on CAF, if anyone wants to do a search of this great resource . . .

Hi there . . .

New in yesterday . . . original artwork for:

5yt6xzr.jpg

Been wanting a good Atlas (pre-code Marvel) Horror cover for a long, long time.

I think this fits the bill nicely!

One of the best Atlas pre-code covers. I hardly ever see pre-code cover OA. If you're ever planning to sell...... :wishluck:

Keith, how's the story "Ghoul Teacher's Tale of Cremation"? Sounds freaky!

It is freaky! Ever read a story narrated by an urn before?? :insane:

From an urn no, from a toilet yes! :insane:

Here are my thoughts on the issue...

Here's the infamous TORMENTED # 1. I use the word "infamous," because if you were a reader of "TTTTT" you may remember the little story that went like this:

It was a dark & stormy night. There was a horror comic collector who purchased every copy of TORMENTED 1 & 2 that he could find. In all his years, he was only able to amass two copies of each. Spoooooky......

Anyway, with the advent of the internet, I'd say it is safe to say that this title isn't really THAT hard to come by. Yeah, you gotta wait a bit before they pop up, but they DO come around....

Yeah, I think that tale has led to a bit of legend around the title. I picked up a nice VG#1 for $80 last week, so was particularly shocked by this sale (Ended at $255) There are many far tougher PCH's out there.

speaking of which , should we try to get a list together of 10 toughest pch's to find?

a few of the tip of my head that should be in the running....

This Mag #3

Beware Terror #8 (Cannibal witch cover)

Thing #12 (1st Ditko Cover)

Amazing Mysteries #32

Worlds of Fear #2

Adv. into Darkness #14

Beware #11 (Myron Fass self portrait cover)

Voodoo Annual

I know there are some atlas issues that are a nightmare to find, like that great mystery tales in the late teens with the purple green & orange cover of a skeletal ghost with matt fox inside (I think Jay has the book, wish I could remember the #) Buy I am not familiar enough with atlas to know which other ones are tough. Anyone else have some thoughts?

Off the top of my head I would add:

Avon's Secret Diary of Eerie Adventures is seldom seen

Trojan's Beware #10 (Frazetta cover)

The Atlas Menace title has a few htf books including 1, 2, & 5

The Mystery Tales issues I've found htf are 8, 9, 12, 14, 19

MT #12 is the one I have Mattew.
