So your the fella that snagged those two crypt's off the bay. congrats and enjoy :applause:

:shy: Missed out on the #30. :(

I'm sure I overpaid for the #32, but I've been wanting to read 'Taint the Meat ever since they showcased it on the Tales from the Crypt DVD.

I didn't know that story was from #32. I wanted to read that one as well.

Hi all, I just joined the forum and enjoy the talk (and pictures!) concerning pre-code horror. I grew up in the 70s with Wrightson's SWAMP THING and DC's WEIRD WAR: it wasn't until my 20s that I began learning about pre-code comics and trying to pick up copies at flea markets, yard sales, and auctions.

I just purchased bout 60 books at a unbelievable auction in Richfield, PA and will post pictures soon. It was one of those one-owner Estate sales where you wished you could have bought everything but had to pick & choose carefully, since others had deeper pockets! Man, it was a lot of fun! I picked up some SOTI and PoP issues and just some cool rare stuff in very nice condition. My favorite is EERIE ADVENTURES #1 in nice condition with original cover gloss intact, beautiful copy. But man-o-man...I wanted that VENUS #17....just couldn't handle the $400+ price early in the auction. Congrats to the guy who got it: it is wonderful book!

Here's the Auctionzip link if you want to check out the pictures:

Welcome to the Boards! :hi:

Can't wait to see scans!

Bummer about the Venus 17 -- it's definitely one of my favorite horror books!

There's another precode thread that you may have also noticed but just in case you haven't http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=550731#Post550731

There are Bronze Age horror fans as well.

Welcome to the boards Chupper!

I think another boardie or two was there at that same auction. I recognized some of the same books. Here's a link to the "Have a Cigar!" thread here in GA: http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=170288&fpart=2097

Looks like it was fun! There are definitely some books I would of loved to of bid on.

Thanks for the kind greetings and glad to be part of the community. The other forum member must have been at the same action and glad they got some cool stuff. Love the GHOST in the "coverless" lot!

Here is one of my SOTI finds

Lovely book! Not only is there a great painted cover but the Powell story is terrific as is the Kriegstein back cover! :cloud9:

Great book: I love Zombie covers!

I didn't know that EERIE ADVENTURES was a SOTI book either until I got home and paged through Overstreet. I just liked the cover and condition, which is beautiful for a golden age book: back cover and interior nice white glow, looks like a kid read it once and put away in a dark box for 50+ years.

Sweet copy! You know, all the times I've seen this cover I've never noticed that the girl is shackled with cuff and chain! doh!
