PGM: Cowboy Western Comics #46 (1953)

9 posts in this topic

I found this comic from 1953 at a local flea market. Structurally, the book is in great shape. The main issue with it is the faded cover. I have no idea how to grade a book when it comes to fading. Can anyone please help me and give me your opinion(s) on the grade of this book? Should I get it graded? Thank you!

If it weren't faded it would be around FN. But the fading knocks it to around G/VG. CGC might be less harsh, but even if it was graded at closer to FN it wouldn't be worth the cost of getting it slabbed.

Thanks for the grade...I'm still learning the ropes when it comes to grading. I got it for a good price, so I'm ok with it being faded. I just wish whoever had it for so long hadn't left it exposed to sunlight like that. I'm probably going to just put it in a mylite with a fullback board or trade or sell it to get a better copy.

I'm at 4.5 or 5.0. Very nice structurally.

Yeah I really wish it wasn't faded, but it can't be helped now. Thanks for the grade! It helps me learn how to grade better.

It's still a lovely book. There are a couple free grading contests every year on the boards. Lot of fun and there are prizes, perhaps you can join one in the future.
