Bidding anomaly on Heritage

Put some proxy bids on Heritage auction thinking I'd be leaving the house. When we changed our plans I decided to cancel the proxy bid on an item and bid live. I cancelled the proxy bid but then when I tried to bid live the screen said "proxy bidding" and would not let me place a bid. The item ended up below what my original proxy bid was but I was apparently not the winner. It apparently cancelled my proxy but some part of the program must be separate because it behaved as if I was still bidding by proxy and locked me out of bidding live.
