With all the talk about Star Wars, I thought it would be fun to rank the films. For a side conversation, what are the best Star Wars novels?

I thought the Admiral Thrawn Trilogy series were the best books I can remember.

Here is my personal list:

 

1. Return of the Jedi (the climactic space battle and Jabba the Hut pushes this one to the top for me).

 

2. Empire Strikes Back (probably the best pure movie, but I'm more sentimental re: ROTJ).

 

3. The Force Awakens

 

4. A New Hope

 

5. Revenge of the Sith

 

6. Attack of the Clones (the worst CGI of them all)

 

7. Phantom Menace

 

Rogue One: haven't seen it yet

Shadows of the Empire was a good read and a great video game.

Yup.

I remember watching it when Ewoks: The Battle for Endor first came on ABC.

My mother's blind and deaf poodle was dying during the middle of it.

I remember being excited for it's broadcast during the week.

Absolute chaos.

As for novels, I've only read a few. Thrawn trilogy was head and shoulders above anything else.

I hear you on sentimentality.

 

I saw the original trilogy backwards.

Loved Jedi as an eight year old. Didn't appreciate Empire until I got older, thought it was too dark. Saw Star Wars in '84 on a b/w TV and loved it (you really didn't need a lot of colour with that one.)

But now without seeing the new entry.
