I started 2017 off right with a vintage X-Men piece -- Classic X-Men 9 Art Adams Phoenix frontispiece from 1986:

As a kid, I was a fan of this series because it was my only way to read these classic Chris Claremont X-Men stories. I lived more than two hours away from a comic shop, so there was no way I could find them in back issue bins and my only way of getting any comics at all were from the local grocery store spinner rack, which is where I found my first 20 issues of Classic X-Men.

I loved the Art Adams covers and frontispieces and the John Bolton backups were great, too. I am glad to finally get an Art Adams Classic X-Men piece of art from one of the earliest issues.
