BA Batman!

Thought it would be a good time to start a thread about BA Batman and Detective books since a lot of people here seem to like them. Here is an interesting auction, Batman 222 raw...looks like Bodezeffas tracked down a copy. 893whatthe.gif

I'll certainly have more to say on this subject later as next to horror, the Bat/Det/BB books are my next favorite. I also must say that I even dip into the late Silver ((shudder)) Age on these books, specifically about 1967 to the mid-70s. Cool Adams covers, Batgirl covers, and monsters galore. Like check this book out I just won (for cheap) with a sexy BG cover.

Interior pages are WHITE, and you need to wear sunglasses to look at the back cover it's so bright and shiny. I've included a scan of the back cover, as well, just to give you an idea of the ludicrousness of it all.

Nice book, but brace yourself for overgrading. frown.gif I won 4 auctions off of matrixhasyou1 (Swamp Thing 4, 6; Creepy 5 and Phantom Stranger 26) and they were all overgraded by at least a point. I bid with this in mind, so I did not send them back. The Creepy issue was the worst of the bunch, off by about two points. The seller is a nice guy, just generous in the grading department. Here is the PS 26 auction (which he had at 9.0) and a scan of the comic (which I put at 8.0). Nice, presentable copy, just not VF/NM. Sorry to rain on your parade....

I won 3 lots this afternoon, which I consider a good deal. Late Bronze. They seem accurately graded. I'm expecting 9.0's. Each lot was 4 comics each, and the 1 scan he included in each lot looked real nice. I got 12 books for $6 each shipped. If I saw these in a LCS for $6 each, I would have picked them up. I got outbid on one of the lots, which really made me mad!

Seems that they are hot lately. I have noticed insanely high prices on some issues, especially the ones with Ra's.

 

I got outbid on these 2 a few days ago. They were at least 8.5s (absolute worst case). I just couldn't drop that much at once...

You getting that ~7.0 Batman 227 that ends in 1 hour? The seller sent me a huge scan. Doesn't look too bad.

 

I was thinking about it. What are the stains at the bottom? Dist. ink transfer? How bad are they in the larger scan?

Thanks for the warning. Unfortunately I bought five books off the guy including a few BA DC Horror (as usual, right?). I should get them in about a week. Nothing expensive though so if they are overgraded I'll just live with it. Glad I was outbid on many of his better books that closed a few days ago.
