George Lucas Selects Los Angeles for $1 Billion Star Wars Museum

It will be sad when all the collectibles are lost to the ocean one day.

That could be said of any place in the world....on any given day something devastating could happen (many people could lose their lives and in the process collections will be destroyed never to be seen again). Comics and humans will not exist forever such is the life process (as sad as it might be).

It's not a Star Wars museum though, there will be that, but Lucas has a great collection of illustration art and comic art, that's what its for. I remember a interview with him where he talked about it and how one of the first things he bought when he had the money was lots of Carl Barks original art.

There was a news report, I think 60 minutes but not sure, on the choice of LA vs. SF was fascinating stuff. Seems like he wouldn't disclose much and wanted the building to be taller than SF would allow in the Presidio. SF's loss IMHO.

By the way, there's no way you can discuss this without discussing politics at least subtly. This is a political story.

Actually he wanted it in Chicago. They royally jacked him around about the whole project. Tree huggers unite! It was all over the local news when they screwed him over. George Lucas deserved more respect than they gave him. Chicago lost that museum for sure.
