Hits on grade as related to where the problem is?

I guess I am trying to asses what the relative hit on the grade of a book may be depending one where it is located on the book. So a problem on the front cover vs. a problem on the back cover vs. an interior issue.  For instance a color breaking bend.  Assuming the damage was the same, will the grade take a bigger hit depending on general location on the book?

I am of the belief your logic is accurate but I am unsure to what extent.
