What has happened to this community ?

Where is the passion ? Where is the fire?

Where is the debate ? Are we locked into the status quo ?

Are you happy with the way things are?

The status quo never advances anyone or anything.

I look at the boards as they exist today and see stagnation.

Post remain with zero activity for days.  It was not so long-

ago that post would go for 15-20 pages weekly. Now a post

is 'on fire' if it has 30 post total.  Have we reached the point

of 'burn out'?? Take a risk. Be bold. Start something.

Why remain if you no longer care??

In terms of pre-change vs now or 8 years ago vs pre-change/now?

The new boards suck.... that is all.

Yep, despite the upgrades to the appearance and some new/nice functionalities, it is simply harder to view the boards now and peruse the different forums and messages. The double-spaced text, the extraneous spacing, the ads, etc. all make it simply less user-friendly.

Since joining these boards in 2007 I have posted virtually non-stop, as my post count shows. However, with the new format my posting has reduced dramatically. ;)

I thought this explained rather nicely, but to expand more as it was

before this change.

There typically is a ton of activity during the day so I'm a little shocked there is this much resistance to the new board when people are looking at it via a computer.  I definitely understand the dislike via cell phones since it still feels like a huge scroll fest whenever I come here on my iphone.  The recent upgrades make the boards pretty user friendly in my opinion (via a PC).  I wonder if it's an issue of nothing going on since no one is saying anything and no one is saying anything since nothing is going on.  Once a huge issue comes up like pressing or micro trimming there will be a new resurgence but until then it's pretty much people talking about movie news and which book is hot or not.

Well, there is either a decrease in activity from before/after this change, or there isn't. And I'm betting there is, because the new boards are simply not as user friendly or as easy on the eyes as the old boards. What a shame.

What I liked about the old board format was it was easier to scan.

What I mean is if I followed the recent activity feed, every so often a subject that interested me would pop-up and I could latch onto it, read, post and go about my business. Occasionally I could check back in to see if the thread was hot or not.

Now my eyes do not know where to go, but I assume I will assimilate with enough time. The two formats are not so dissimilar.

If people are uncomfortable with using the boards they will not use them.

The more people use the boards the more they will become used to using them.

It will take some time but either there will be some new blood where this version of the boards is all they know or the older users will acclimate themselves to navigating through the boards.

Best answer ^^

I've essentially become acclimated to the new boards but do I like them?  Kind of meh about them. Are they are huge improvement over the old? Not in my opinion. Yeah, there's  some nice features that the old boards didn't have but those features don't make me all giddy and excited. we also lost some nice features that the old board had but this one doesn't.

The new boards feel like a lateral move, not a marked improvement.
