This whole situation kinda pizzes me off. The Marketplace is a nice place to sell comics...and some of us tend to have the money to pay nice prices for comics. But if this place becomes known as a "hike your price" marketplace when comics don't sell elsewhere then god forbid how long it remains a good place to buy.

I would not worry about this because Clink requires a commission price and eBay gets you in auction fees in comparison to here being free to list. If people hike up prices here, well, the buyers like me are going to wait them out until they discount to a reasonable price (which should be done first anyway...)

To all:

If sellers continue to ignore the rules of listing elsewhere and whatnot, well, I think it's wise to say so publicly in seller's thread so we can get an idea of how many warnings a seller has gotten, so we can start polling in the probation thread on whether so and so should be marked. I completely understand people like BrianR wanting to be polite about it and not legitimately bump a thread, but there should be a record of this (in a way) as it's upon us, the members, to self-police the marketplace. Please PM GACollectibles if you have to, as he's charitably taken upon the role for us if we need a public face.

Nothing like bumping 6,count 'em ..6,freakin' threads to the front page just to say thread closed. :screwy:

Pretty :censored: inconsiderate.

People should just let their thread die instead of announcing that it's closed.

It's not even just a simple "closed" bump - the first few I looked at date back to early February.

People should realize that if it hasn't sold already, chances are pretty high it won't later around here.

It kinda sucks because the thread gets bumped but the seller should official declare his thread closed to avoid any confusion.

What if he let's a week go by and no one buys a book therefore he lists his books for sale on another site? I'm sure he will get crucified by a mob here

Perhaps a time limit should be defined?

From what I have seen around here as common courtesy in selling threads is,

You list books for a certain time unless you have an ongoing thread because of the amount of books you have to sell. Realistically, if they have not sold within a week, chances are they won't 2 months later as the thread has dropped back about 10/15 pages. Who honestly looks back that far?

This was nothing more then pumping your old dead sales thread to first page in an underhanded way.

This is only my opinion.

If my thread gets bumped to the 2d or 3rd page, I consider it de facto closed. How often do people search this forum for old selling posts? My guess is about never. If they did and found a thread a month old, I would think common sense would require PM'g the seller rather than just throwing up an illtakeit.

Nobody is going to dig up week old sales threads, let alone 2 month old threads like Dekeuk's, and cause a stir if they happened to see the books turn up on another site. If the thread is that old, it's going to be many pages back and not considered active. The problem arises when a seller starts a thread here after they're already listed elsewhere.

It's not a problem to declare a thread closed (unless it's spamming like this instance) but its not a problem for it to end without a declaration either. Hundreds of sales threads end without a "closed" sign. I've never seen the lack of an official closing to cause trouble.

Plus, we have enough rules as it is. :sumo:

If it's been 3 days since the last sale, I'm assuming no one is buying, so I edit my last post to say "Thread Closed". Avoids confusion and doesn't bump it up.
