Tom Thumb... linen book?

I looke through every section of Overstreet from Victorian on up as well as promotional and didn't see anything that matched the Tom Thumb book in this live auction. Anyone ever seen something like this before? It actually looks like linen because of the strings hanging down from the bottom of the book. Thought it was interesting if nothing else...

Looking at one of the photos of the interior of the book, the strings almost seem to be coming from material covering the inner portion of the cover of a hardback book. However, it doesn't appear to be a hardback from the outside. I guess it could be a linen book.
