Paul_Maul
From time to time I see CGC slabs that appear unusual, and it makes me wonder what about the particular comic led to using a particular slab. I can't figure out what is going on with the Batman 248 below. I see that the microchamber paper has slid out, but why does the bottom of the comic seem so far above the bottom of the inner well? Does it indicate the comic was somewhat oversized and too tall for the normal holder? Edited October 19, 2017 by Paul_Maul
VintageComics
Because there are different types of inner wells. on older slabs. Some don't have the ledges for the comic to sit on and instead are sealed between two inner well pieces and held in place by pressure.

After the book has been shipped a few times, then the book has those neat ledge dents adding to whatever flaws existed when it was graded!
