One of my fave GGA covers.  :cloud9:  Really nice eye appeal at first glance, but a couple of odd flaws... some color loss on the lady's dress, and some pink splotches mostly in the propeller areas (not to be confused with the more subtle pink shading which appears on the cover here and there). Thoughts?

what is this shade running down the front right edge on a slight angle ?

That's a dust shadow. You sometimes see them on golden age books, if they were stored in a pile or something. This one's pretty faint at least.

Yes. Attic stored, typically. Heat and dust engrained (baked by the summer heat in attics) into the part of the cover that was directly exposed to it. The part of the comic that remained unaffected, clean, for the most part, was covered by a comic overlying it at the angle implied by the shadow.

u learn so much on this website its insane....u guy's r a Big Deal.................How do u grade comics with a dust shadow ? If it's not listed in the grading guide........

It's point detractive, A. The degree of deduction dependent upon it's severity. It's damage. Try to find and review the CGC - Joe and Nadia Mannerino collection labeled S.A. books. These are very sound books for the most part, most with 9.0 to 9.6 structure, exhibiting very, very little actual wear. But, most have moderate edge toning, thus rightfully grade 8.0 to 8.5 at the most. The dust/heat/sun shadows are in the same boat, treated very similarly.
