Boy, this issue has it all: Alex, Jason, Brutus and the mushface mutants, the Assimians, the winged monkey demons, and if that wasn't enough we also get to meet this guy...

Issue # 21 has a nice Earl Norem "headlight" cover!

I liked the "Terror on the Planet of the Apes" storyline so much (you know, the one with the Eyeball guy) I forgot to mention the backup story of "Conquest for the POTAs" has been ongoing through the previous issues.

Here is the final scene courtesy of Alcala.

Issue # 22, another Norem cover.

894016-PlanetoftheApes%2322.jpg

This issue contains a story that "bridges the gap" between Conquest and Battle entitled Quest for the Planet of the Apes. But what I thought was really interesting was a promo for the next issue (possibly cover art) that was never used nor does it turn up anywhere in the next issue, which is a shame IMO as it would have made a killer cover!

Tom Sutton takes over the reigns on the TotPotAs storyline with this splash page.

Meanwhile Caeser contemplates going into the Forbidden Zone...

I watched a show (I think on Discovery) last night called "From Ape to Man" & I thought about this thread. The segments about [embarrasing lack of self control] Sapiens competing with Neanderthal for Europe at the same time really stirred up thoughts of the whole POTA concept. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

What!? You can't even write the word [embarrasing lack of self control] Sapiens on these boards anymore? What a 893censored-thumb.gif -up situation!

Too funny, 27_laughing.gif

How do you know those Sapiens weren't straight? poke2.gif

Well, yes I suppose they were straight. After all, WE'RE here, aren't we. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Well I'll be a monkey's... tongue.gif

Aaand segueing from Sapien to Simian...issue 24.

896672-PlanetoftheApes%2324.jpg

Well Caesar does decide to enter the Forbidden Zone and for a wasteland, it is beautifully depicted by this 2 page spread! (Alcala again.)

896672-PlanetoftheApes%2324Spread.jpg

Where there's radioactive wastelands, there's gotta be Mutants...am I right?

As the mutants become aware of Ape City, General Aldo is overheard plotting against Caesar by young Cornelius (Caesar's son)

While Aldo's War Gorillas play nice with some mutants...

On to issue # 26

896708-PlanetoftheApes%2326.jpg

Now while this issue boasts a neat Viking Apes cover, it gets really weird inside!

We get to meet "Eriko" The Mighty Thor of the Planet of the Apes! hail.gif

896708-PlanetoftheApes%2326ApeThor.jpg

Then things just get stranger and stranger... confused-smiley-013.gif

Only 3 more books to go... blush.gif

Issue # 27

899899-PlanetoftheApes%2327.jpg

As the Battle for the PotAs heats up as depicted on the cover, over in Terror on the PotAs, Brutus meets up with the Gorilloids (Gorilla androids) created by the mutated, double talking "Makers"!

899899-PlanetoftheApes%2327HerbTrimpeGorilloids.jpg

The artist on this story (Herb Trimpe) reminds me very much of Jack Kirby's work. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

Issue # 28

899922-PlanetoftheApes%2328.jpg

Yeow! that Alpha/Omega bomb is looming dangerously in the backdrop there. "Don't bump into it you guys!"

Well we have 2 Ape baddies getting theirs this issue: Aldo gets confronted by Caesar for killing his son...

899922-PlanetoftheApes%2328Aldo.jpg

...and Brutus finally comes to a downfall when he kills his own Gorilloids and looses the final fight. Yes my friend, from now on your name will be entered into the book of the Lawgiver as "Bumbling Brutus"!

Possibly... smirk.gif

I was thinking about starting a Dracula Lives thread, any thoughts?

893applaud-thumb.gif893applaud-thumb.gif

Do you have full runs of a lot of the Curtis mags? Tales of the Zombie would be cool to see as well...

Speaking of Curtis mags, is the Vampire Tales Annual 1 hard to find? (I don't want to hijack the thread, so we can take this to PMs if you would prefer).

I wouldn't want you to have to scroll all the way down the page or anything --> Missing Link

I got it for under $50.
