if superheroes were alive and roaming our world...hmmm. anyone read the Aces High series? and i don't mean the comics, but rather the actual books.

 

 

wouldn't be nothing like that. we would all be under the oppressive thumbs of our powerful masters. the ratio of good to bad superpowered folk would look like Greg Maddux's walk to strikeout ratio circa '96

It occurs to me that I havent read any of that stuff except for the Watchmen. Anything rise above the rest besides Moore's opus.

You haven`t read "Marvels"? Get thee hence, young man, and stock up on one of the best, if not the best, mini-series of the 90s!

When you think about it, three comic works spring to mind regarding super-heroes and how they would behave in the real world, or in the perspective of the bystander.

 

You've got the bleak and determinist Watchmen, which shows the inherent corruption of absolute power, Ross and Busiek's Marvels miniseries, which shows the scale of conflict between super-powered beings, and The Authority, which posits the notion that super-powered beings would generally be psychotic, macho, ruthless and fascistic.

 

If there were super-heroes in the real world, they'd behave like the Authority. Sorry folks, but they wouldn't be heroic, at least not in the traditional sense. They'd be 'orrible.

 

You forgot Warriors of Plasm and all the Valiant titles.
