I'm very slightly disappointed that this thread isn't about Cap's huge buck teeth.

Or how about the fact that inside the bottom of his mouth is colored as teeth on the Golden Records Reprint and as a tongue on the regular edition?

The BerenstAin Bears thing freaks me out. Everyone I have ever met, ever, said BerenstEin Bears.

There's geographical effects also. I remember South America being located far more below North America than it is now. Now, it appears to be shown on maps so far to the right and under North America that if you could move North America directly south, the east coast of the US would barely contact the West coast of South America! Even the position of our solar system within the Milky Way galaxy has allegedly been drastically changed! Fascinating stuff.

I know what you mean about the forced perspective, but it's still one of the most dynamic, powerful images of Captain America ever drawn, and the cover and story features my all-time favourite, horned, 1963 version of the Iron Man armour.

I don’t disagree with your point about Cap, and 100% agree with you about Iron Man.

Just wondering if the shadow is simply reflecting parts of the dark ground ...

That's how I am seeing it.  Especially since the black reflection is also in the red sections of his shield.

I'm still getting used to seeing it, it's like I'm looking at Cap's shield for the first time and I thought I knew every line, every dot on this cover! Keep in mind that several types of black ink were used on covers. There's a flat black and a glossy black, and there are blacks that iridesce (spelling?) that can mimic the look of black color-touch (black with different color highlights).

Yes.

The inks are laid down in this order:

Cyan
Magenta
Yellow
Black

For example, if the publisher wanted the black in the logo to "pop"/look darker than regular black, the black part of the logo would first be printed with 40% cyan, then the same area would be printed with 40% magenta, etc.

What about the booger?

What about the big, green, hairy BOOGER coming out of Cap's nose?

I never noticed that nasal hair-encrusted green booger before! Still more Mandela Effect Marvel mayhem! Thank you, Cern. Thanks a whole bunch.  :luhv:

It is understandable. He'd spent nearly two decades in deep-frozen suspended animation, and so not surprising that he might, at the very least, end up a bit sniffly with a runny nose after being thawed out.  Beats frostbite, anyway.

that the white bands (rings) on Cap's shield appear to be drawn translucent. It appears as though that's his arm, hand, and leg seen as a dark shadow though those white bands. Has anyone ever seen his shield drawn in that manner on any other cover or in any panel?

Noticed it a long time ago. It's just shading (or Kirby krackle, as KPR put it.

Could be that you're part of this "new reality", a CERN created alternate reality! Quick. Do you remember the wieners as made by Oscar Mayer or Oscar Meyer? How about the Falls? Is it Niagra, or Niagara Falls? Is it "Sex and the city", or "Sex in the city"? This may tell us something. Possibly even more than we wish to know.   :juggle:
