In comic books More Fun #101 1945.

He was mentioned though earlier in Action #1 as the scientist who sent his son to earth.

Alright, thanks for the pic I kept looking for the specific strip but wasn't sure if this maybe reprinted another story.

Been there, done that. 1989 to 2002. R.I.P. (check your old Overstreet Guides)

FYI, Disneyland opened a decade before I was even thought of. My grandparents were there though on opening day. :)

I've been trying to look into what is Jor-El's first appearance but different results keep coming up, I know it's not Action Comics #1 or More fun Comics #101 so it leads me to assume it'd be a newspaper story. if any of you know I'd be greatly appreciative.

I should have mentioned this too last night but Siegel and Shuster used the name Jor-L even earlier in 1936 in New Adventure comics #12 which featured a crime-fighting Fed in the Year 3000 starring as a federal officer by the name of Jor-L!

It's also interesting to note that, in translating from that particular Kryptonian language (there could have been many languages on that planet of course) into English, "Krypton-Quake" translates as "Earth-Quake".

Yes I caught the use of earth quake too which obviously you wouldn’t use outside of our earth but it was just Comics writing in 1936 so....

it's a bit funny, but don't get me wrong - I totally love it (and everything else about the strip).

Yes I agree. Sometimes the energy of a work can overcome it’s flaws which I believe was apparent in the early Siegel and Shuster works.

They were also just 22 in 1936 just barely above today’s drinking age...
