I do not believe it is a pedigree marking but just curious if anyone has seen it before.  The only reason I ask it is on a relatively high grade copy of my Startling 47 with an old label.  I hadn't noticed it before but as I was posting in my Nedor collection thread I happened to notice. The books and the a pic of the marking.
