Being 12x12 it's more than 20% smaller than a modern comic page though. If quality is the barometer alone it should well surpass #4, agreed. 6 minutes ago, PhilipB2k17 said: For any artist other than Frazetta, that might be an issue. But, I am not sure this will be. I'd normally be right with you as I think a superior image by such a legend should overcome size/presentation discrepancies between pieces, but we had that example of the piece that sold around the time of SDCC a couple years back (can't remember the piece, I have to look it up) near the time Richard Evans bought his "Spiderman" by Frazetta for (I think) 1/3 the price of the piece that sold around SDCC. There wasn't a huge gap in the quality between the two pieces but Richards was 1/2 the size (in Sq. Inches) of the other piece. So it's actually happened on Frazetta before, otherwise I'd probably make the same point as quality should win out regardless.
The Lions Den
It's amazing these two pieces survived at all. Incredibly historic.
cstojano
2>4, but both under-performed expectations a bit. I totally forgot about these auctions...not that I'd be bidding on these.
Twanj
It's easy to forget about the Hakes auctions...
Michael Browning
I think it hurt the final prices by having two main events in the same auction -- and, several weeks ago, I told a friend who was also watching these that it would be a factor in them under performing.
