I love #2, that's perfect Frazetta action. Being 12x12 it's more than 20% smaller than a modern comic page though. If quality is the barometer alone it should well surpass #4, agreed.

For any artist other than Frazetta, that might be an issue. But, I am not sure this will be.

I'd normally be right with you as I think a superior image by such a legend should overcome size/presentation discrepancies between pieces, but we had that example of the piece that sold around the time of SDCC a couple years back (can't remember the piece, I have to look it up) near the time Richard Evans bought his "Spiderman" by Frazetta for (I think) 1/3 the price of the piece that sold around SDCC. There wasn't a huge gap in the quality between the two pieces but Richards was 1/2 the size (in Sq. Inches) of the other piece.

So it's actually happened on Frazetta before, otherwise I'd probably make the same point as quality should win out regardless.

Anyone think the person who ended up with the Greg Hildebrandt painted Bettie Page cover got a deal?

https://hakes.com/Auction/ItemDetail/223321/BETTIE-PAGE-1-FRAMED-COMIC-BOOK-COVER-PAINTING-ORIGINAL-ART-BY-GREG-HILDEBRANDT

Someone also got a 70's Kirby Cap page (with Cap in costume) for under $4K.

And, holy Hell, a really nice Aparo Batman title page (from the flagship "Batman," title, no less) for under $1400!

I am definitely gong to check out the next Hake's auction.

Because the crazy money flowed into vintage Star Wars toys...
