SD Comic-Con Panel Discussion On Community Issues - Input Solicited

299 posts in this topic

I think Mark's title was just a play on words for the sake of the Forum guys here. No one else will get the "in-joke".

And when it all boils down to it, pressing is really nothing more than an "in-joke" in significance to the rest of the comic-collecting community outside of these boards.

Kind of like saying "hi.gif guys". Am I right? confused-smiley-013.gif

Read more of like an 893censored-thumb.gif "F-bomb You, guys" to me.... tongue.gif

Hey Mark,

How about a question regarding whether or not QP plays a significant role in the buying habits of modern day collectors? Maybe you could ask Steve B about the "cut-off" in structural grade for books with severe production defects. thumbsup2.gif

Given the amazing prices paid for Jason Ewert`s books, most of which have dreadful QP, my guess is that it still does not factor into many buyers` consideration.

Don't worry Beyonder you will convert them as you have done so many of us, whether we like it or not. insane.gif

Can anyone video and/or audiotape the panel discussion? If so, PM me please. Thanks.

Guarantee the porn stars and have them dancing on poles up on stage, shaking their jumblies, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of volunteers willing to videotape. tongue.gif

Steve Borock has notified me he can no longer participate on the panel.

Disappointing to say the least as there will be many CGC related issues to be discussed and Steve, with all his experience, would certainly have been in an excellent position to respond.

I am working on finding a replacement.

I'm not surprised...he has been backtracking for weeks now. I guess CGC isn't confident enough with their position and actions towards the hobby to participate in a Q&A where they don't have control of the questions beforehand.

I guess he's content to stay in his ivory castle and filter what he hears about the hobby through those that tend to kiss his @ss or have invested a large monetary sum on slabbing. Not a way to get an unvarnished view and to see where CGC actions may be hurting the hobby...

I guess we can assume CGC can't speak to comicdom anymore without a response checklist. How can we take anything CGC says seriously anymore when they can't speak on an hour and a half Q&A panel that hasn't been spun in their favor beforehand? Really sad to see and speaks volumes on where their allegiances are...

In light of Steve's unfortunate resignation from the panel, and in order to still have an independent grading service representative (particularly at the request of numerous CGC forumites), I am pleased to announce that Daniel Patterson, President, PGX, will join the panel.

Panel participants (as of July 10, 2005)

Mark S. Zaid - EsquireComics.com

Jon Berk - collector all powerful

Mark Wilson - PGCMint

NEW - Daniel Patterson, President, PGX

Having Daniel speak instead of Steve B. is kinda like having Steve Jobs discuss Microsoft.

While he may have many insightful opinions about the platform. I would still rather hear from Bill Gates directly.

Dont drop the ball on this one Steve, meet it full headon, tackle the issues at hand. Makes me wonder if you personally chose not to speak, or were told to do so.

Or were you just plain worried we would biatch about TAT's if we saw you on a panel for X # of hours?

Either way..

What a bummer you bowed out, I was looking foward to hearing you speak.

Ze-

edit.. I hate BOTH APPLE and MICROSOFT with equal disdain.
