Right on the borderline of .5/1.0. Man, why couldn't they have glued the back instead?

It's complete, so I'd give it a 1.0, but if you are looking to sell it, I'd price it like a poor.  That's a book people buy for the classic cover.

To me, it looks like this can be a case of this substance coating the surface of the cover. I don't see any areas that look like either the paper is missing, pulled off by the separation of whatever this was glued to, if it was in fact glued to something else and that glue just isn't poured on the cover.

Since we can't examine the surface, I would have a competent Joey Post like wizard of a paper guy take a good look at this before offering it as is, to see if that glue, maybe even a sizable portion of it, can be cleaned off without doing much harm to the surface. You never know, and to me, it looks like the potential is there, dependent on adherence factors.

Looks really good under the glue; I hope someone can get it off without damaging the book. A potential diamond in the rough here.

The only was I know of to get that glue off would result in a conserved or restored label.
