How would these comics be labeled if I submitted to CGC?

I'm thinking of sending a couple comics to CGC.  They are the "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #2 RI-B" covers.  These were retailer incentives that IDW got Katie Cook to do a drawing and signature on before they got sent to the distributer.

Here's an example of one on eBay:

So a couple months ago I purchased a lot of comics from someone who has a loose connection to IDW.  Inside the lot was 2 copies of #2 RI-B, but they are a different than what the normal comic look like.

So, as you can see, both of the comics are #2 RI-B. My guess is that the box in the middle is applied by a stamp.  In the first picture, I'm guessing someone had fun with the stamp by using it all over the cover. Although it could possibly be intentional.  I'm guessing if I submitted it to CGC it would get a Blue Label of "Retailer Incentive Sketch Cover" like the info on the one from eBay.

The second one is the comic I'm more interested in though.  As you can see it's a completely blank cover. My guess is that this book never got stamped when Katie Cook was doing the drawings for Issue 2 at IDW. So IDW had these completely blank covers at their office, or wherever. IDW did sell 10 very limited drawings by Paul Abstruse that seem to use the "completely blank" cover like I have. My thinking is that this RI-B was never intended to be released to the public completely blank.

So...my question is: if I submitted the blank cover to CGC, what would it be likely be listed as in the edition section?

My guess are:

  • "Retailer Incentive Sketch Edition" like the eBay Comic, although it would hope it says "Blank Cover" instead of "Partial Blank Cover"
  • "Blank Cover" which I would hope it isn't as Issue #2 already had a blank cover but it was listed as "CVR RE" not "RI-B"
  • "Retailer Incentive Blank Cover" making a new category

I know it seems silly to submit a completely blank cover to CGC, but considering I may have the only one like this, I want to get it graded. But I'm a little hesitant of sending it in so far because I don't want it to be given the same info as a cover that it's obviously not. I tried asking in the "ASK CGC" forum but it wasn't approved.  I even messaged CGC on facebook but never got a reply back.  So maybe someone who's seen this situation before can give me some insight on what might happen.

Have you tried emailing CGC about this?  We have some very smart, experienced, and informed folks here, but I'd be much more interested in an official answer from an employee than some internet strangers (no offense to all you strangers, keep on keepin' on!)

Well, I messaged them on facebook 3 week ago and got no reply.  Then I posted this thread in the "Ask CGC" forum a few days ago, but it wasn't approved and was removed.  So figured I'd try this forum in the hopes that maybe someone else has had this same situation before and could give me an answer.

fair enough.  But I think I'd try a direct email, and include the pictures you've included here.  A lot of companies treat their social media the same as their direct communications, but a lot don't.  I suggest calling or emailing.  Good luck.

I agree, how can anyone here give a definitive answer on this. (shrug) Contact CGC.

Well, I work overnights, and live on the other side of the country.  So I'm usually at work/travelling home/asleep during their hours.  But I did e-mail them and received a reply. They said it would most likely be Qualified, but I replied back asking specifically about the completely blank cover.  Waiting on a reply to that one now.
