ASM 50...to press or not 0

This was graded back in 07 so I don’t think it was ever pressed.  I have the grader notes attached.  Does cgc grade stricter now?  Do you think this would benefit from pressing?  I think the fold on TRFC is the worst thing.  Not sure if I should wait for grade guesses but it’s an 8.5.  Do you think that’s as good as it could get?  Notes seem ok.  I’ve only pressed something once before and it took a hulk 181 from 5.5 to 6.5.  A lot of experts on here so your opinions would be appreciated.  Tough through the case.

To be honest, I think 8.5 was generous. Usually, a sizable corner crease will hold it at 8.5. This book has two, bottom right and top right. That top staple is stressed. There is nothing I can see that a press will improve to compensate for the above mentioned flaws.

I agree. 8.5 is very generous. Corner crease that breaks color will it keep from grading higher.  Nothing to be gained by a press.   By the way, I am a presser.

Keep as is an If you ever sell it be sure to mention it can possibly be improved with a press😋😋👏🤪🤭

I see issues that a press would remove, but that has to be weighed against the defects that pressing won’t help. Based on that formula, if it were my book, I would not take the chance. 8.5 is about as good as this book deserves.

Thanks guys, exactly what I was looking for.  I’ll just squirrel this away until the kids want to sell.  Do you think there is benefit to leaving it in the older case?  I think when people see the new holder the automatically think press.

The case looks good, it's clean. Unless it's broken I would keep it in the old case.

Yes, I totally agree, especially with the Newton Rings situation. Why risk spending the money when you may not be happy with the result.

Of course quick press only cost ten dollars I think⁉️⁉️🤭
