PGM ASM #20 - Grade Is In! 1 1

Here are some pictures of my copy of Amazing Spider-Man #20. I would appreciate your input on the following: a) grade, b) benefit from pressing?, and c) would you slab it?

IMO...

FN - 5.5 due to minor stain on rear cover and larger stress lines/staple tear on the lower half of the cover.

An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose.

Fits the criteria for Fine but with an additional defect or small accumulation of defects that detracts from the book's appearance by a perceptible amount.

The edges of the cover might benefit from a press, especially since it's such a good looking book already!

I'm going 6.5 on this.

nice looking book with some moderate color breaking edge wear.  Structurally a 6.0.  Unfortunately, will take a hit for that stain

a) CGC grade 5.5

b) no, the press will not fix the stain or the color breaking edge wear

c) see my previous answer for FF 12

I see a small stain in the upper-left hand corner of the back cover. I don't remember if it affects interior pages.

Agree with 5.5. That stain is knocking it down from a Fine like MM said. Nice looking book!

I'm FINE with either 5.5 or 6.0...

Nice book! I would not slab, it looks better than the 5.5-6 grade it will probably receive. I don't think the stain looks that bad, though CGC has been tough on stains in my experience. And as others have mentioned a press won't help with the stain and edge wear.

If it's a 5.0 which it may come back as it's worth like 175.00    So why not slab it. I think that  it's about the cut-off for slabbing. Everyone has a different price point on slabbing. At what price level do u consider certifying ? What say ye fellow board members ?

If you look at GPAnalysis, the current 90-day value are as follows:

6.0 = $549

5.5 = $485

5.0 = $450

GPA analysis  let's say 5.0 Graded copy of  this goes for 450.00    If you look at Overstreet price guide from like a year ago it lists a raw 5.0 copy to go for like 175.00   So once you get it graded it then jumps in price to 450.00 ?  Am i looking at this right ?
