What does the Category of C-1 or Universal mean during the Grading process?

Universal means unrestored with no qualifiers. That's the grade you want. Blue label.

C-1 means its a small amount of amateur restoration. (usually a color touch) That's a restored grade. Purple label. (or as it's been dubbed, PLOD... purple label of death... meaning the value will be a fraction of what it should be at the grade it receive from CGC. )
