Universal to Signature Grading
0

4 posts in this topic

I am planning on going to the Fan Expo in Dallas in May. I have 3, already Universal graded comics that I want to have Jim Lee sign.

I've paid for the Jim Lee CGC Experience that gets me 3 items signed with CGC witness (which I will get signature graded).

Question: Since the 3 items are already universal graded (2 at 9.9 and 1 at 9.8). Will the CGC witness crack the slabs for me during the witnessing of the signature? And, if they actually do the cracking and witnessing, will I have to have it regraded or will it just be resealed???

I know i'm taking a risk is lowering my grade but I feel the signature on these specific comics (Batman: Damned variant #1 and #2 (both 9.9), and Batman #608 2nd Print, Manufacture Error (9.8)) is more important (IMO).

Thanks

It will be regraded entirely.  I have had 1500 books SS'd but I have never cracked a 9.9. Please check the values and make sure you are not going to get hurt too bad by going from 9.9 blue to 9.8 Yellow.  If you do, you will regret it.  It will be much easier for you to get a couple of 9.8 blues to crack. Then you could even sell the 9.9s to subsidize the cost.  But the worst case scenario is cracking 9.9s and coming in with a lesser grade - which is a real possibility.  Good luck!!
