Bosco685
Kevin Feige Confirms A Nova Movie’s Percolating In Development Quote Though the Nova Corps have already appeared in the MCU by way of Guardians of the Galaxy and may even show up again in the near future if fan theories are to be believed, Nova himself has so far remained absent from the big screen. Still, the rumors are ongoing that Marvel Studios has a film for Richard Rider in mind, and a recent statement from Kevin Feige himself has basically confirmed this. When ET Online caught up with the producer last week, they told him that four things they really want in the MCU are a Nova movie, an LGBT superhero, Kamala Khan and Taika Waititi to announce his next Marvel film. In response, Feige offered up the following: “I think all of those are percolating and– Let’s put it this way: They’re all percolating. I do want to keep the focus on this one and on the immediate future, but everything you just named are percolating, some closer than others.” That’s certainly exciting to hear, and already, the seeds have been planted for the character’s arrival. If you’ll recall, we learned in Infinity War that Thanos “decimated” Xandar in an attempt to grab the Power Stone. What’s significant about this is that the planet’s home to the Nova Corps, and given that the Mad Titan no doubt severely depleted their numbers, it’s looking as if Marvel is beginning to set up Richard Rider’s origin story. In the source material, Rhomann Dey – played by John C. Reilly back in Guardians of the Galaxy – goes to Earth after the Corps’ destruction and gives the Nova Force, their power source, to Rider. With Xandar having now been destroyed in the MCU, folks are beginning to think that a similar arc is starting to unfold on the big screen.

It would make more sense to me if the new Nova Prime was still a Xandarian. Interested to see how this develops. Bosco685
Nova is Set For His MCU Debut! Quote A fan favorite character is on the way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he may be showing up sooner than many expected. Back in May, MCU Cosmic reported that development on Nova had begun at Marvel Studios. That followed comments by Kevin Feige a year earlier when he told ComicBook.com that Nova was a character with “immediate potential”. In May it was hard to tell how far the development was on the project, but now I have a better idea. According to very reliable sources, Nova appears to be one of the big characters planned for a Phase 5 debut alongside Blade, The Fantastic Four, and the Mutants. And from the sound of things, and how it’s been in development for a while, it could be relatively early in Phase 5 as well. Right now the only Phase 5 movie we have a release date for is Black Panther II on May 6, 2022. There are also February and July MCU releases in 2022, not to mention any of the movies planned for 2023. So where Nova would appear is difficult to predict at this point. We also can’t ignore Disney+, as Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She Hulk show; Marvel’s not against introducing a new character there before moving them into the movies. There’s also a possibility of him debuting in a cosmic movie like Captain Marvel 2. Wherever he debuts, The Human Rocket is soon to be part of the MCU, and it’s something fans have been waiting a very long time for.
Bosco685
Quote Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are presently developing a Nova solo project. Marvel Studios is gearing up right now for it’s most massive slate of productions in the franchise’s history. After the coronavirus delays have come to an end, hopefully in the near future, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will kick back into gear again with the theatrical release of Black Widow this November. This will open up Phase 4 of the MCU, the biggest phase yet, which consists of at least eight confirmed movies in theaters and eight new mini-series premiering on Disney+. While Disney and Marvel do have plenty on their plate for the present, the two entertainment moguls always seem to have their eye on the future. The Illuminerdi has just gained some new information on one of their most anticipated future projects, and we’re here to share with you what we know! According to a recent listing, Marvel Studios is in the early stages of planning a project centered around Nova. This could be either a solo movie or a TV show, while our source’s best bet is that it’s a movie in the MCU’s future slate for Phase 5 or later. However, there was no absolute confirmation, as it could be fluid presently. Marvel head Kevin Feige is indeed listed as the sole producer, while no other talent is formally attached at moment. There are a number of places to possibly introduce Nova in the MCU. Having him feature in his own mini-series on Disney+ could help debut the cosmic side of the MCU on the small screen since all of the new mini-series are Earth-based thus far. He could also be introduced or teased in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 before he makes a bigger appearance in his own solo movie.

Richard Ryder also isn't enough of a fan favorite for the Studio to feel its necessary to stick to the comics origins on this one. I think for the movie/Disney+ show that the new Nova Prime will be a Xandarian. Storywise, it'd be more interesting for Nova to be a being whose planet was decimated by Thanos. That's interesting baggage. Marvel Studios wants to go cosmic and to make Nova an earthling would limit that potential. IMO, Nova belongs on the other side of the galaxy. Bosco685
Quote Sooner or later, Nova will be coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. According to Kevin Feige himself, both Richard Rider and Sam Alexander are in consideration, and will join the live-action world before long. When the character eventually does arrive in the MCU, one thing is for certain — he'll likely carry the future of the (cosmic) Marvel Cinematic Universe on his back. Sure, we may be tipping our toes into hyperbole a little, but most would admit the Human Rocket has some heavy lifting to do going into the MCU's Phase Four and beyond. In fact, Feige himself told ComicBook.com's Brandon Davis that Marvel Studios isn't going to shy "away from the cosmic end of storytelling right in the sweet spot of the Nova Corps and Nova himself." So — what's that mean for a character like Rider? It means that it's increasingly likely the character will become a central figure in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in a post-Vol. 3 world. At one point, the character was going to make his live-action debut in Avengers: Infinity War as Thanos (Josh Brolin) lay waste to Xandar in order to retrieve the Power Stone. That means, believe it or not, there's likely already at least some sort of concept art deep within the halls of Marvel Studios' visual development department. In fact, some suggest the character could have initially appeared in the original Guardians of the Galaxy alongside the introduction of the Nova Corps. Perhaps the last of the Nova Corps of Xandar teams with Nick Fury and Talos in whatever Invasion they will fend off? It makes more sense to me for a Xandarian to adapt the name Richard Ryder for security purposes than it is for an earthman to become the Nova Prime for no good reason. Bosco685
The MCU Will Have Two Versions Of Nova, Teases Marvel President Quote Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teases two versions of Nova will be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ever since the MCU started to explore the wonders of the cosmos with Guardians of the Galaxy, there has been a lot of interest in seeing Nova. The original Nova is known as Richard Rider and is one of Marvel's greatest cosmic heroes. However, the comics recently introduced a younger and new Nova, a Latino teenager named Sam Alexander. Quote During the press tour for WandaVision, Kevin Feige was asked about Nova's future in the MCU. After his previous comments about Nova, ComicBook asked Feige if Richard Rider or Sam Alexander will be the MCU's Nova. He responded by saying, "Well, yes and yes," which appears to indicate that both Richard Rider and Sam Alexander will be Nova in the MCU. In terms of when either version of Nova will debut, though, Feige was more vague: "Timing is relative, right? I think I'd been talking about Doctor Strange eight years before that movie came out. So, 'immediate potential' is relative. But clearly, we are not shying away from the cosmic end of storytelling right in the sweet spot of the Nova Corps and Nova himself." Not to assume Kevin Feige thoroughly researched his own comments before posting... Larryw7
Ken Aldred
The way Rider got his powers in Nova 1 made sense, as it was simply ripping off Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps, and that he was the first earthborn Nova Corps member for the same basic reason. After the Annihilation Wave he was the only Nova Centurion remaining alive, and so giving him all the Nova Force power was an understandable if desperate last resort. Nothing to do with his planet of origin. There’s no such credible foundation being presented in the film outline described above.
