BrooksR
Hi, I posted these pics a few days ago in a pre-existing submariner thread but got no response so I’m trying one more time, I hope that’s ok. I’m returning to comics having been away since the 90’s. I just bought a submariner 1 last week at one of those antique malls (it was $99, an impulse buy, I hope I didn’t pay too much). I was thinking about getting it graded at cgc, I’ve never done that before. Do you think this is a good candidate for grading or should I save my grading budget for other books? One flaw that might be hard to see in the pics is a small chip missing from the back cover near the “complete fishing outfits” panel. Thank you for taking the time to read this 😀 -Brooks Edited June 12, 2019 by BrooksR I accidentally posted one of the pics twice
Point Five
Right on the borderline of 6.5/7.0 I'd think. Very nice!
gadzukes
I'm going to say borderline 7.0-7.5 (with a press). Nice pick up for only $99..... probably worth nearly 3x that.
The Cult of Pulp Culture
6.5 - 7.0 range - nice pick-up 👍
The Lions Den
First, let me compliment you on the excellent photos---well done, and thank you. Yes, it appears you made a good purchase here. I'm thinking it's at least a 7.0...and it could go higher with a well chosen press. And just so you know, that chip out of the upper left side of the back cover is a common flaw for this book. So CGC likely wouldn't downgrade as much for it. Nice pickup, and welcome to the boards...
theCapraAegagrus
7.0 IMO.
comicginger1789
I am also feeling 7.0....a 7.5 would be the best I think you could hope for and you did make a great buy.
BrooksR
Thank you everyone 😀 I appreciate your taking the time to look at it. I’ll send it in to cgc soon and I’ll post the results when it comes back. Do you recommend cgc doing the pressing? I’ve read about “dry cleaning” comics too. Is that real? Does cgc do it? Thank you again!

Thank you again! CCS is actually the company that does the pressing for CGC. From what I hear, they have a significant backlog of books these days. There are some very reputable folks here on the boards who also do this type of work...

Thank you again! Definitely get it pressed. If you go thru CCS it'll take a looooong time. Check with Joeypost. He does great work.
