OtherEric
I recently got this book, for some reason the name of the previous owner sounds familiar. Does anybody know anything about them? porcupine48

Really hard to be sure with the grainy photo, but it does look like the lower right corner might have a chip out like the copy I have. Amazing find, thank you for tracking it down! Popular Post BB-Gun
I posted a couple of items about Ed Lahmann several years ago. He was a comic guru that taught us new collectors how to collect golden age comics from different companies. I asked Jerry Bails for a copy of this article many years ago and he sent me some scans. BB-Gun
I think this photo was also in a copy of Alter Ego. It contains your comic which induced me to buy a copy of my own. Larryw7, porcupine48, Keys_Collector and 1 other

If you want to know how many of these suggestions I followed. From the DC list I have: Action 17 and 21...still looking for 19. I missed Superman 2 several times on ebay but picked up Superman 6 from a local collector. I have Batman 3-10 but all in rough shape or incomplete. Detective (biggest mistake was waiting for this one...everyone wants a copy of 33 and 35) Adventure 65 More Fun 64 and 81 plus a bunch more All Star (he says only 2) but I liked 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18 and 19 Star Spangled 14 and 18 Boy Commandos 2 All American 8 (probably incomplete) Flash 9 (sold my issue 5) Green Lantern (none of the early issues but a few later copies) Sensation (issue 3 which is hard to find) I could probably go on through the whole list but you get the idea. Collecting Harvey, Ace and Centaur was a little more difficult but I have a few. Some of my favorites are the anthology titles that are on the list like King, Ace, Popular and Famous Funnies. Thanks again Ed. OK, I got a Detective 54 which looks a lot like 33. BB-Gun
Scans are from Comic Plus by the way and Ed's article was featured in AE 5. A picture of Ed with your comic was in AE 6. Thanks to Ron Foss for making these issues. Typing without a delete button was so much tougher back in the sixties.

I wonder how the book worked its way to me, it's clearly got more history behind it than most books.

Giving your collection to your children can have several results. They could pass it on, sell it by item, sell the whole lot or put it in the dust bin. There was also a little bio that Ed wrote. This may be another copy of the book your father had, this one is lower grade but still intact. Did you want the book back? It was given to me by a friend to scan and share, since the material is public domain. While I'm happy to have it, particularly given its history, I feel you have a better claim on it as part of your family heritage. So if you do want it, just send me a private message and I'm happy to mail it to you. Popular Post Edward Lahmann
He was very knowledgeable about comics. He did art work in various comics and he did a Fanzine about Cyclops which at first was One Eyed Jack. He was one of the original members of Fandom which now is known as Comic Con. Popular Post OtherEric
Just got a message that the book has safely arrived back with Ed's family. Glad I could help it come full circle, even if I don't know the full story of how it wound up with me for a little while. porcupine48, Tri-Color Brian, circumstances and 4 others
BB-Gun
Quote By the way, I noticed that Joe Jinks was fight manager for Dynamite Dunn. Related strips I think. Edited June 19, 2020 by BB-Gun OtherEric
