Ebay scammer...?

5 posts in this topic

Attention shoppers.

Saw this on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...bayphotohosting

It looks remarkably like:

Down to the writing on the cover.

I had to check. He also has this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Archie-Comics-1-No-R...1QQcmdZViewItem

It looks a lot like:

Including the cover edge damage.

Maybe the guy is just an innocent seller that had first consigned his books to Metropolis? Not likely. But I asked Ebay to find out.

Before this was pulled by ebay he had added Detective #44, Archie #7, and I think Action #17. Not only was zero feedback a good clue regarding fraud but immediate payment was demanded. Comics would not ship until October. Based on the quality of his photos, all the comics were probably from Met. The description said that the comics were inherited from his recently deceased father. I guess dad had consigned the comics to Met without telling him.

I checked his email address on Paypal and he was a verified member since 2003.

Here we go again. This Jughead #1 is the same one that Heritage has listed. The seller doesn't ship til 9/16. Some of his other comics look suspicious also. I especially love a scammer who attempts a scam with negative feedback.
